"BB" is famous as an artist, a naturalist, a writer, a shooting man, and an angler. In the latter category, he does not claim to be a catcher of great fish. but he does claim to have that magical extra sense - a feeling for the water. he knows where the fish will be and what they'll be up to at any time, in any conditions, because he spends a great many hours not only fishing for them, but observing them.
No species has he fished for more keenly or observed more closely than the carp. Ten years ago it was considered that the carp could be caught only by whichcraft or by accident. Today, twenty-pounders are fairly commonplace and there is a rod-caught fourty-four pounder (the record as this book goes to press) swimming in the London Zoo aquarium. And it is perfectly fair to say that all this has happened through the efforts of "BB".
The revolution came about because of a book "BB" wrote called "Confessions of a carp fisher". This book encouraged Richard Walker and others to crack the carp's secrets. So it was inevitable that "BB", a founder member of the Carp Catchers Club, should soon own and stock his private carp lake. This book is the record of that lake and how he turned barren water into a first-class carp fishery.
Addicts and newcomers to carp fishing will find much invaluable information here, as well as the waterside atmosphere which "BB" knows so well how to capture in words and illustrations.
